IPU Protocol Committee Tours Entebbe Airport

The protocol sub-committee of the 126th IPU Organising Committee has today, 16th February 2012 visited Entebbe International Airport to acquaint itself with the operations of the airport as part of the preparations for the conference due in Kampala.
The committee which was led by its chairperson, Hon. Elijah Okupa was on a fact finding tour of the airport to assess the capacity of the arrival and departure lounges facilities, the security arrangements and also to work out ways of how the parliament staff will work with airport staff during the conference. Hon. Okupa said that they were interested in ensuring that the airport is able to handle the delegates who will be coming for the conference without any hitches. “We are interested in the smooth running for arrivals and departure of delegates during that period”, Hon. Okupa added.
The director, airports and aviation security services, Eng.John Kagoro assured the committee that all was set for the arrival and departure of all the delegates and they would have special arrangements had been made in that regard. He added that all IPU delegates would use the VIP lounge.
The committee then toured the airport facilities like the VIP lounge, the Immigration booths, customs area, parking lot and the departure and arrival side.
